I regret to advise that our Chairman, Past Pipe Major and Founder
Member, Mr Rod McFadyen, passed away on Saturday 4 June 2016 following a
short illness.
Rod was entirely instrumental in forming the Gatwick Caledonian
Pipe Band from the ashes of British Caledonian Airways and devoted all
his energies to keeping the band alive, encouraging young players and
enthralling us with his many stories. He had a
great many friends and admirers throughout the world of pipe bands. A
great personal friend and a great character, he will be very sadly
missed.
